2017/2018
In a time when we are overwhelmed by prejudices prompted by disruptive local politics, when the media also hinder the establishment of cooperation in the region, the importance of the project “Unfinished Symphony / Regional Children’s Philharmonic,” as an example of good cooperation and need for communication, is even greater.
80 talented students of primary and secondary music schools – laureates of prestigious domestic and international competitions, from Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, represent a tangible example of the fact that reality in the Balkans cannot be reduced to outbursts of hooligans and nationalists that dominate media reporting, and that the countries from the region have good and talented children who, with enormous support of their families, professors and music educators, work diligently and demonstrate embraces of understanding and accepting diversity.
The aim is to support a positive example of cooperation between young musicians from ex-Yugoslav countries and inspire further relations in the region, despite frequent misunderstandings and miscommunication as a consequence of the civil war that had taken place couple of decades earlier.
